Windows XP TCP/IP Network Settings

Step 1

Go to Start and click Control Panel




Step 2

Open Network Connection




Step 3

On the left side, double click on Create a new connection which is under Network Tasks.




Step 4

A New Connection Wizard will pop up and click on Next.




Step 5

For the Network Connection Type, choose Connect to the Internet, and click Next.




Step 6

For Getting Ready, choose Set up my connection manually, and click Next.




Step 7

For Internet Connection, choose Connect using a dial-up modem, and click Next.




Step 8

For Connection Name, enter QTM under ISP Name, and click Next.




Step 9

For Phone Number to Dial, enter the server access number that is local to you (click here for a listing of the local access numbers), and click Next.




Step 10

For Internet Account Information, in User name: enter your username (all lowercase) and put in your password where prompted. Uncheck Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection.




Step 11

Click Next




Step 12

Click Finish




Step 13

The Connect QTM box should be up. Click on the Properties button.




Step 14

Go to the Networking tab, Type of dial-up server I am calling: should be set to PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet.




Step 15

In the box below under This connection uses, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) making sure it stays check marked and click on the Properties button.




Step 16

On the General tab, Obtain an IP address automatically should be dotted, and Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically should be checked.




Step 17

Click OK, and then OK again. You should now be at the Connect QTM window and ready to connect to the Internet.
