Capitalizing on the success of last year's inaugural Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Classic, Martin's Supermarket's, Blackthorn Golf Club and the WSBT Radio Group will spearhead efforts to increase donations to Coaches vs. Cancer over 5 days from August 14th to the 18th.

  • The WSBT Radio Group (Sunny 101.5, News-Talk 960, Oldies 94.3 and Cat Country 99.9) will broadcast a radio-a-thon on Thursday Aug. 14th and Friday Aug. 15th from 6am to 6pm.

  • Learn how changes in your lifestyle can reduce the risk of cancer or prevent certain types of cancer!

  • Donations to Coaches vs. Cancer will help the American Cancer Society slam dunk cancer! Over 60% of the money raised during the Community For A Cure radio-a-thon will stay right here in Michiana!
  • To pledge donations to Community For A Cure call the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Hot-Line at 1-888-CVC-CURE.
  • Listeners can pledge at various levels including:
    $20 per month - CVC All-Star
    $30 per month - CVC MVP
    $50 per month - CVC Champion
  • In addition to the 2-day Community For A Cure phone-a-thon, other events are planned to generate community support for Coaches vs. Cancer.
  • On Friday, August 15th and Saturday, August 16th, Martin's Supermarket's will host the Community For A Cure Free Throw Contest.
  • With a donation of $5 to Coaches vs. Cancer, individuals will be eligible to compete in a free throw contest and a chance to win a special Grand Prize.
  • A limited number of "Goodie Bags" and official Community For A Cure t-shirts, provided by Quantum Connections will be available for individuals making donations to Coaches vs. Cancer.
  • Sunny 101.5, News-Talk 960, Oldies 94.3 and Cat Country 99.9 will all be broadcasting live during from Martin's SR 23 location on Friday, Aug. 15th from 3pm to 6pm and again on Saturday, Aug. 16th from 12noon to 3pm. (Note: News-Talk 960's Weekday Sportsbeat will broadcast live from Martin's on Friday, Aug. 15th from 5:30pm-7pm.
  • The 5 days of Community For A Cure conclude on Aug. 17th and 18th with the 2nd annual Notre Dame Basketball Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Golf Outing.
  • Featuring a series of first class events, the Notre Dame Basketball Coaches vs. Cancer Classic is the premier golf event in northern Indiana. Notre Dame Federal Credit Union will serve as the presenting sponsor for this year's event.
  • Festivities begin on Sunday evening (August 17) with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 7:00 p.m. Lexus of Mishawaka will sponsor the cocktail reception and silent auction to be held at the Blue Heron at Blackthorn in South Bend. Tickets are available to the public at Lexus of Mishawaka and the American Cancer Society, for $50 per ticket.
  • A scramble golf tournament will take place on Mon., August 18, followed by a celebrity dinner featuring Brey and his staff. Participating golfers will compete for an all-expense paid trip to the 2004 BIG EAST Men's Basketball Championship at New York City's Madison Square Garden as well as other prizes including gift certificates to Blackthorn Golf Course and Notre Dame men's and women's basketball tickets.
  • All golfers will receive complimentary tickets to the cocktail reception and silent auction on Aug. 17 and to the scramble golf tournament and dinner on Aug. 18. In addition, each golfer will receive a complimentary lunch buffet, refreshments and tee gifts that include a rain suit, windshirt, golf balls and a golf hat. Participating golfers also will have a chance to win $1,000,000 in the Million Dollar Shot contest held during the golf tournament.
