MAY MEETING "RECAP"

The May meeting was held at the shop of Bob Brown. Bob had his shop "operating room" clean and was thankful for the motivation to hold the monthly meeting so he could tidy up a bit. Bob demonstrated a technique he used to decorate a head board for a bed he made for his son using the West System, coloring the epoxy and using a Dremel tool for routing out a beautiful design. After routing the design he applied the epoxy and then when dry, sanded smooth, leaving an inlaid type work. The possibilities for this technique are endless and really add a great special effect.

Bob is also finishing up a great looking dresser for his sister and showed guild members a beautiful dining table in his home he constructed using brass and aluminum insert accent pieces. Homemade cookies and ice cold beverages topped off the evening. Although the meeting was sparsely attended, those who came were certainly awarded with a fine program and great "Brown Hospitality". Thanks Bob for a great meeting!!!!

Wayne Rendell announced that he recently saved $150.00 when he purchased a new planer by using "vendor direct" shipping. The tool ships directly from the vendor to you, adding a couple weeks to delivery, but accounts for a substantial savings. You must be able to "off load" the truck however so consider this before using this technique.

Bob Bender reported 2 blown cartridges on the Andrews Univ. Saw Stop. Definitely a tool worth the expense. Bob has the one cartridge on display in the shop, the blade is buried 2/3 of the way in to the aluminum block.
